Meme: 7 Weird Things About Me …

Well, here’s another one of those fun posts I get to do from time to time. Usually, I’m just tagged to expose 7 things you don’t know about me, but this time it’s a lot more specific. This time, because I’ve been tagged by Patty Dost, I get to tell you 7 weird things about me.

Now of course, I realize that these “meme” posts have absolutely nothing to do with speaking or coaching or anything related to the typical articles or information usually contained in this blog, but I still think it’s a lot of fun … plus, it’s a great way to learn about people and get to know them. But before I get started, here are the rules:

1. Link to the person’s blog who tagged you.
2. Post these rules on your blog.
3. List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself.
4. Tag seven random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting a comment on their blog.

Now for the fun stuff …

Weird fact #1: Commercials make me cry. You know … “the touch, the feel, the fabric of our lives,” commercials and the Hallmark commercials where someone gives someone else a card for some sappy reason. The AT&T “Reach out and touch someone” commercials used to get to me too, but I haven’t seen one of those in years.

Weird fact #2: I hate to wear shoes … so unless it’s absolutely necessary, I don’t. When I have to wear them, I try to wear sandals or something that slips on without having to bend over or tie anything. Even in the dead of winter, if I can get away with it, I’ll put on socks because it’s cold out, but I still wear mules or something with no backs or sides.

Weird fact #3: I love Klondike bars (or rather the Slim-A-Bear version because I can eat them guilt-free). What’s weird about my love of Klondike Bars is because of the way I eat them. I eat all of the chocolate off the sides and the bottom first, and then the ice cream, leaving the top for last. That way, I end up with a nice big slab of chocolate to eat all at once.

Weird fact #4: I talk to myself … not just idle chatter, but actually talk to myself. If I’ve got to have a difficult conversation with someone or talk to someone about something important, I go through the scenario over and over with myself … usually out loud as if I’m having the conversation with the other person.

Weird fact #5: I love Disney movies. When my husband and I were dating, we would watch them all the time. My favorites are 101 Dalmations, The Lion King and The Fox and the Hound.

Weird fact #6: When I take a shower, I like the water really, really hot. I start out with water hot enough that I can still get in it, and gradually move the handle bit by bit over to the hot side so it’s nothing but hot water coming out of the shower head. I know it’s time to get out of the shower when there’s either no hot water left, or my feet and ankles are bright red.

Weird fact #7: I love frogs. I missed the bus in Jr. High School because I was playing with a frog I’d found, I had a tiny water baby frog (he was about the size of a nickle) with a gimpy leg whose name was George, and my daughter had a South African Barking frog that had teeth and actually barked.

Now that I’ve totally humiliated myself by telling you 7 weird ( or maybe stupid and bizzare) things about me, I’ll tag 7 others and ask them to do the same. So ladies and gent … tag, you’re it!

I just have to say that I am like you when it comes to showers (#6). I remember once, I finished up with my shower, got out and dried off, and then opened the bathroom door…my smoke alarm started going off! I had to hurry and turn it off as it was killing my ears, but afterwards, I laughed so hard!

Now that’s hot if it set off your fire alarm. That would be a riot. It’s kind of interesting because my body temperature usually runs pretty warm, so you’d think I’d like cooler temps. But when it comes to water … it’s got to be really hot.

I thought I was the only one that hates shoes. In the summer, I’ll only wear flip-flops. I prefer not to wear shoes…but no shoes, no service.

Oh no Dusty … you’re definitely not the only one that hates to wear shoes. It’s -6 outside today with snow on the ground and I’m still barefoot. Of course, if I have to go outside today, I’ll put on socks and my slip ons, but that’s about it. As shoe-haters, we also reap one of the great benefits of not wearing shoes … look at all of the money we save :)
