Social Media Telesummit – February 20-29, 2008
I don’t know many people who like to cold call. Not only is it so impersonal and intrusive, but it just doesn’t work. For every 50 cold calls you make, only 2 will result in an appointment.
My good friend, Leesa Barnes, hates cold calling. She relied on cold calling to get clients for her web
development business in 1997.
Two years later and heavily in debt, Leesa gave up on self employment and got herself a full time job.
When she was laid off in 2004, Leesa decided to try self employment again. But this time, she did things a little differently.
Leesa decided to use social media to find new clients and make money. Four years later, Leesa has published a book, is a recognized expert in podcasting and has tripled her income in just 12 months – all without cold calling.
If you think Facebook, MySpace, blogs and podcasts are only used by teenagers, you’re missing out
on one of the easiest ways to find new clients. If you want to learn how to use social media as a business tool and do it right the first time, I invite you to check out a virtual event taking place in February that’s hosted by Leesa.
It’s called the Social Media Telesummit and it features 26 amazing speakers (including moi!) who will teach you how to use social media for business.
There’s no fluff at this event. Each speaker will teach you a specific tip based on their practical, in the trenches experiences.
So, if you want to say goodbye to cold calling and use a fun and profitable way to find new clients, click here to read more about how this event will help you:

Meme: 7 Weird Things About Me …
Well, here’s another one of those fun posts I get to do from time to time. Usually, I’m just tagged to expose 7 things you don’t know about me, but this time it’s a lot more specific. This time, because I’ve been tagged by Patty Dost, I get to tell you 7 weird things about me.
Now of course, I realize that these “meme” posts have absolutely nothing to do with speaking or coaching or anything related to the typical articles or information usually contained in this blog, but I still think it’s a lot of fun … plus, it’s a great way to learn about people and get to know them. But before I get started, here are the rules:
1. Link to the person’s blog who tagged you.
2. Post these rules on your blog.
3. List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself.
4. Tag seven random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting a comment on their blog.
Now for the fun stuff …

Five Reasons I Love Being a Virtual Assistant …
Fall seems to be a playful time of year … everyone is playing “tag” in one form or another. In October I was blog-tagged by Dina Giolitto on the subject of “7 Things You Don’t Know About ….” Now … quite unexpectedly, (while checking out Technorati) I find that I was tagged by my camping buddy and colleague Yvonne Weld back in September to join in with the Five Reasons I love Being a Virtual Assistant! Not quite sure how I missed this one, but I did … so I guess it’s better late than never.
You’ve got me Dina … now I’m it!
Well, it’s apparently that time of year again … “tag” time, that is. Every so often someone tags me and makes me tell the world a few unknown things about myself. And … this time, I’ve been tagged by Dina Giolitto, the Head Copy Chick at Wordfeeder.com. For a more detailed (and eloquent) description of what this is all about, read her post at http://wordfeeder.typepad.com/blog/2007/10/tag-the-copywri.html.
