Tips for taking your message to the masses…

by Lou Bortone

Lou BortoneIt’s never been more difficult to get your message heard above all the noise online … If you hope to make your message “stick,” here are a couple of keys to keep in mind…

1.  Cut to the chase – That’s the old Hollywood movie expression for getting right to the action. The same is true online: Get to the point. Be succinct. We’re living in the age of Twitter and 140 character communication, so keep it short and sweet!

2.  Be original – Express yourself and be authentic. Copy cats and ‘me too’s’ get lost in the shuffle. You need a compelling message delivered in your own, unique way. What makes you different? Can you pass the “who cares?” test? Stand out and get noticed.

3.  Be relevant – Make sure that your message is interesting and compelling to your target market. Connect with your audience. One way to do this is through Online Video, which is personal by nature.

4.  Make ‘em laugh – Humor sells. It’s not easy to be amusing, but it’s one of the best ways to ensure that your message is not only heard, but shared. It’s no coincidence that the vast majority of viral videos are funny.

5.  Be entertaining – If you can’t be funny, at least be engaging. Entertain, inform or inspire. Add some personality to your message. Again, video is a great way to get your message across in a unique and entertaining way. Be memorable!

Some great new changes to 1ShoppingCart.com are here!!

As someone that uses 1ShoppingCart.com (or one of it’s private label companies) with many of our clients, I am very excited about the new changes they have made to their email marketing! Not only have they simplified the navigation for email marketing, but they have added some cool new stock templates to use for sending broadcasts and newsletters, as well as the ability to add your own custom HTML templates to the system.

But … by far, I have to say that I am most excited that we now have the ability to schedule broadcasts to go out at a specific time of day rather than having them go out right after midnight on the scheduled date.  I’ve had many, many requests from clients to send broadcasts out a certain number of hours before an event, so this added feature that will certainly make my life easier.

Just take a look at the short video below that provides a quick overview of the features and how to use them.

Virtually yours,

Terry

Five Quick Tips For Way Better Video

By Lou Bortone

Lou Bortone, The Video GuyWith the proliferation of video sites and social media sites like Facebook and MySpace, more and more of us are making web videos – and that’s a good thing. However, an amateur or poorly produced video will not put you or your business in the best light. Fortunately, there are a few little things you can do that will make a BIG difference! If you follow this simple advice, your videos – and your business – will look much more professional online.

1. Watch your background!

Now, I realize you may not be able to use all the special effects that I do on my “LouTube” Videos but you’ve still got to consider your environment! Where is your camera? What’s behind you in the background? Nobody wants to see your dirty laundry or your velvet Elvis painting in the background! Just use a plain or professional-looking background.

As another alternative, do what my friend Travis Greenlee does, and shoot your video outdoors. Most of Travis’ videos come from outside his home in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado!
