"Terry gets my business. Even before she understood the intricate details about my business, she already understood what I would need. Terry works with speakers and coaches and consultants, so she knows that we need certain things. We need packages done, we need follow-ups done by email and by phone … but more importantly, which is the second reason why I love Terry, is that she understands how to use the technical things that speakers and coaches need. Things like a shopping cart, ezines … sending those out. She knows how to use these tools. I didn’t have to train her, she already knew how to use these tools, so it was just a matter of transferring all these administrative tasks that I was doing. But lastly what I like about Terry is that Terry makes me feel like I’m her only client ... So, Terry is someone I cannot live without in my business … I mean she is just … I couldn’t do without Terry and Terry is such an intricate component of my business that I could not live without her. Her fees could go up to $2,000 an hour tomorrow, and I would still pay it because that’s how important she is to me. Terry is doing an awesome job and if you’re looking for a virtual assistant, Terry is your woman."

Wow ... this year seems to have flown by!! I can't believe Thanksgiving is the day after tomorrow, and Christmas is only 5 weeks away. The next issue of Speak Up and Make Money will be ringing in the New Year in January, so no matter where you live or what holidays you choose to celebrate, I'd like to take this time to wish all of you and your families a most blessed holiday season filled with happiness, prosperity and good health.

There were so many things on my to-do list this year. I did manage to accomplish quite a few of them, but we've been so busy this year that there is still a long list of "to-dos" that have yet to be checked off. A few of the highlights for me this year were attending the 2007 Speaker Summit in Los Angeles in May, being able to attend the NSA Convention in San Diego this past July (and having the opportunity to meet some of the speakers in person I'd only corresponded with by email), participating in an Online Media Success workshop being held by one of my clients in Toronto earlier this month and being able to meet Leesa in person.

That's me in the middle of the top row and Leesa right in front of me.

and finally meeting one of my long-time clients in person over dinner when he was in Columbus for a speaking engagement weekend before last.

(Ron and I after dinner ... not the best photo; it was taken with my camera phone)

One of the major things I was able to accomplish on my to-do list was making the change from a single VA company to a multi-VA company. It was a lot of work, and I'd hoped to have the associate page on my website up and ready to go by the time this issue went out, but that's one of the "to-dos" that hasn't gotten checked off yet. We're not done yet, but so far I've been able to put together a great team ... Connie is my website, graphic, custom ezine and blog template expert; Brent is my audio "extraordinaire" guy; Julie and Trina work with my speakers and coaches; Lizah works with my overseas clients (she's located in Singapore) and Miki is my all-around "I need help!!!" VA. I hope you'll join me in welcoming Connie, Brent, Julie, Trina, Lizah and Miki to the Fastype team.

This issue's feature article is written by Leesa Barnes, President of Caprica Interactive Marketing. Leesa shares some valuable insight into how to spot and avoid a brokeback entrepreneur.
